McKee Barracks


McKee Barracks is a military installation near Phoenix Park in Cabra, Dublin, Ireland.

History

The barracks, originally named Marlborough Barracks after John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough and built as a cavalry barracks to house 862 military horses, were completed in 1888. Following the Anglo-Irish Treaty, the barracks was handed over to the Irish Republican Army in 1922 and renamed McKee Barracks in 1926. It is now an administrative centre where various Directors of Corps are based, as well as the location of the Irish Army Equitation School.
