History

There have been several churches in Meråker over the centuries that were located at Kjørkbyen, about northwest of the present site of the church. The most recent church building at Kjørkbyen was completed there in 1793. In 1874, that wooden church was taken down and moved to the present site, closer to the village of Midtbyda.
