Michael Doudoroff


Michael Doudoroff was an American microbiologist who discovered with Nathan Entner microbial pathway for glucose degradation in some bacteria. Nowadays it is known as Entner–Doudoroff pathway. He was born in St. Petersburg, Russia but moved to San Francisco when he was 12 years old. He entered Stanford University where he completed his PhD under the supervision of Cornelis Van Niel at the Hopkins Marine Station.
