Michael Szenberg


Michael Szenberg is a professor emeritus and past Chairman of the Finance and Economics department at Pace University's Lubin School of Business. He was the editor of The American Economist.

Life

Szenberg is the author and editor of 22 books, including Economics of the Israeli Diamond Industry, The Welfare Effects of Trade Restrictions, Eminent Economists: Their Life Philosophies, Franco Modigliani, A Mind That Never Rests, Eminent Economists II: Their Life and Work Philosophies, Secrets of Economic Editors , Collaborative Research in Economics: The Wisdom of Working Together, and other works many of which were translated into several languages.
In addition, he has been interviewed by BBC-TV, Time Magazine, Newsweek, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Xinhua News Agency , Gazeta USA, TV Tokyo, and many other journalistic outlets regarding international economic matters. He is the author of many scholarly articles and encyclopedia entries such as in the International Encyclopedia of Social Sciences, and the Encyclopedia of Quantitative Finance.
Szenberg has resided on three different continents. He graduated from Long Island University in 1963 and received his PhD in Economics from the City University of New York in 1970. He also graduated from the Israeli Air Force Aeronautics School where he was the Captain of the school's cadets.
He served as the Editor-in-Chief of The American Economist, 1972 - 2011. In addition, he served as editor of Economics Categories, the Cambridge University Press Encyclopedia and was the Coordinator and Chairperson, Editors of Economics Journals, American Economic Association Meetings, 1984 - 2011.
He is an editorial consultant to top publishing houses such as Cambridge University Press, Oxford University Press, McGraw Hill, Stanford University Press, Worth, Palgrave-Macmillan, SAS Institute, Edward Elgar Publishing, Routledge Publishing Company, and also co-editor with Lall B. Ramrattan of the Economics series of Handbooks by Oxford University Press.
