Mick Loughton


Michael George Loughton is an English former professional footballer who played in The Football League as a defender.

Club career

Born in Colchester, Loughton played in the Football League for hometown club Colchester United, making 122 league appearances scoring 7 goals. In 1968, Loughton signed for Brentwood Town, before moving to Chelmsford City in 1970, following the merger of the two clubs. Loughton made 378 appearances for Chelmsford in all competitions, scoring 29 times.

Managerial career

Loughton had two stints as manager of Chelmsford, broken up by a stint at Tiptree United. Loughton also had two spells at Wivenhoe Town.
