Minnesota Freedom Band
The
Minnesota
Freedom Band
is a
non-profit
concert
and
marching band
for the
LGBT community
based in
Minneapolis
. Founded by Tom Valach in
1982
to
play
in
the parade
for
Twin Cities Pride
, it has performed at many
public
events, including
playing
The Star-Spangled Banner
for the
St
. Paul Saints, leading a procession after the
signing ceremony
for
the bill
legalizing
same-sex marriage
in Minnesota, and
marching
in
presidential inauguration
parades
. It is a
founding
member of the
Lesbian and Gay Band Association
.
