Mir Mohammed Helal Uddin


Mir Mohammed Helal Uddin is a Bangladeshi politician. He is a Member of the National Executive Committee of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and a member of the Foreign Relations Committee of Bangladesh Nationalist Party-BNP. Uddin is also the joint Secretary of Bangladesh Nationalist Lawyers' Forum, Supreme Court wing. Uddin is a UK-trained Barrister-at-Law and heads a law firm based in Dhaka, The Lawyers’ Council. He is a member of the Dhaka Bar Association and an advocate of the Bangladesh Supreme Court. He is the son of BNP politician and at present BNP Vice-Chairman Mir Mohammad Nasiruddin. Uddin has been nominated by BNP from his home constituency, Chittagong-5, Hathazari-Bayejid in the National Parliament Elections held on December 30, 2019. He is popular in his constituency, especially among youth supporters of BNP in Chittagong, as well as other parts of Bangladesh.
Mir Mohammed Helal Uddin remains firm in his political belief and ideology despite persecution against him and his family during the army-backed 1/11 caretaker government of Bangladesh. Mir Helal's loyalty to Shahid President Ziaur Rahman's family has given him a reputation for being trustworthy amongst BNP workers and activists, and contributed to his popularity. Mir Mohammed Helal Uddin is also a pivotal member of the legal team of former prime minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, who are also facing persecution from the ruling party of Bangladesh. He is also one of panel of editors of a monthly literary magazine called the Srijon published from Dhaka, Bangladesh.
