Morningstar Farms

Morningstar Farms is a division of the Kellogg Company that produces vegetarian food. Many of their offerings are meatless variations of traditionally meat-based products, including some that are vegan. Their products range anywhere from chick'n nuggets to veggie burgers and eventually began to produce other products such as veggitizers, breakfast meals, and meal starters.

History

Morningstar Farms was introduced by Worthington Foods. The frozen food line of soy-based meatless meats was introduced into supermarkets and grocery stores in the U.S. in 1975. It was widely advertised and introduced Americans to the use of soy as a base for meat analogs. Kellogg purchased Worthington Foods for $307 million in October 1999 at which point it acquired the Morningstar Farms brand. Kellogg sold Worthington in 2014 but retained the Morningstar line of products.
