My Sister's Room


My Sister's Room is a lesbian bar in Atlanta, Georgia. It is the largest and longest running lesbian bar in the Southeast.
An Atlanta lesbian-owned and operated bar for more than 20 years, My Sister's Room is a destination for lesbians and the gay-friendly Atlanta community. They have won awards, including: Best Lesbian Bar every year since 2005 – Creative Loafing Magazine, Top 10 Lesbian Bars in the World- lesbian.com, Top 200 Gay Bars- Orbitz, "Best Place to meet women" 7 times- The Georgia Voice. Repeatedly won "Best Women's Bar" -Fenuxe Magazine and Project Q. Their house Dj Liz Owen won Best Deejay in Atlanta 2015-GA Voice, The Show Director, Tiffany Phillips aka Jordan Michael McCord won Best Drag King 2014 and 2015- GA Voice. They have won many other awards and accolades. Pictures of My Sister's Room in the 1990s are in Emory University's permanent photo collection.
MSR is a sponsor of Atlanta Pride and official lesbian events for Atlanta Pride. MSR also officially sponsors lesbian events for Atlanta Black Pride.
MSR established the Pensacola Memorial Weekend Pride event "Sexacola" that caters to lesbian party goers.
Commonly referred to as "MSR" is one of the oldest Lesbian Bars in the United States. It also one of the few left. It was founded in 1996 by Susan Musselwhite and was located in the Midtown area of Atlanta. It then moved to the Atlanta suburb Decatur GA From 1997-2006 but the building was sold to build condos. They found a home in the quirky bar district of East Atlanta Village.
In 2011 the bar was sold to Jen-Chase Daniels and Jami Siden. In the summer of 2015. My Sister's Room came full circle moving back to the gay district of Midtown Atlanta, also referred to as the "gayborhood". Bringing on several local news articles like ProjectQ and The Georgia Voice social-media frenzy.
Many celebrities and notable LGBT figures have been special guests of MSR and participated in their events including Lea DeLaria, Ruby Rose, Whitney Mixter, Sada Bettencourt, The L Word Leisha Hailey, Khia, Ying Yang Twins, God-Des and She, Nina Dobrev, Matthew Davis and Daniel Gillies from The Vampire Diaries The Originals , Porn star, American trans man, adult film producer and performer, and LGBT icon Buck Angel, Love and Hip Hop's Rasheeda, DJ Annalyze, DJ Pat Pat, Violet Chachki winner of RuPaul's Drag Race, Hunter Valentine, Kiyomi McCloskey, Laura Petracca, Sick of Sarah, some of America's Next Top Model contestants and many more. The Bar has been used in several tv shows including filming inside by The Bad Girls Club, Dateline ID, and ESPN.
