Native Window

Native Window is an American progressive rock spin-off band of the popular rock group Kansas.

History

Native Window formed in 2008 as a Kansas side project. After their 1998 album Always Never the Same, keyboardist/vocalist/songwriter Steve Walsh decided that he was finished with his writing career for Kansas. After Somewhere to Elsewhere - a 2000 reunion album that reunited all of the original members and featured previously unreleased songs by founding member Kerry Livgren - failed to chart or generate significant sales, Kansas decided to abandon the recording of new material altogether, preferring instead to focus on releasing video recordings of live concerts. However, the four other members of Kansas - Phil Ehart, Richard Williams, Billy Greer, and David Ragsdale - decided to form Native Window in order to have an outlet for releasing new material that moved in a different direction from Kansas. They released their first self-titled album as Native Window on June 23, 2009.
