Nawab Haider Naqvi


Syed Nawab Haider Naqvi is a Pakistani economist and scholar.

Early life

Naqvi was born in Meerut, in 1935 and is the oldest of 2 siblings. His sister Naseema Zehra was born in Meerut as well. He migrated to Karachi, Pakistan in 1950.

Educational qualifications

He received his master's degree from Yale University in 1961 and his doctorate from Princeton University in 1966. He was a post-doctoral research fellow at Harvard University from 1969–1970. Naqvi has served as the director of the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics, and, until recently, senior economic advisor for the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority and Rector of Kausar University of Sciences, Islamabad.
