Negative (Serbian band)


Negative is a Serbian rock band from Belgrade.

History

Negative was formed in 1999 by a former Tap 011 vocalist Ivana Pavlović, guitarists Nikola Radaković and Vladimir "Grle" Đurđević, bass guitarist Milen Zlatanović and drummer Miloš Bilanović. They released their debut self-titled album Negative in 1999. The album was mostly power pop-oriented, and featured a cover of Viktorija's song "Barakuda". In 2001, they released the live box set entitled 19 05 00, recorded on their first solo concert in Belgrade's SKC on May 19, 2000. The box set featured a live CD featuring, besides the songs recorded on their first album, covers of the world hits popular at the time, and a VHS featuring a recording of the concert. During the same year, their song "Kraj" appeared on the album Apsolutnih 100, featuring the music from the film of the same name.
In 2002, the band released their second album Ni ovde ni tamo, featuring similar power pop sound as their debut album. In 2004, they released the album Tango, recorded without Đurđević and featuring Ivana Pavlović on vocals and keyboards, and took part in Beovizija 2004 with the song "Zbunjena" placing 1st out of 28 with a score of 79 points. This qualified them for the Evropesma 2004 contest where they eventually finished in 4th place with a score of 44 points. In 2005, they recorded the theme "Pogled na nebo" for Nikola Vukčević film A View from Eiffel Tower. They returned to Beovizija in 2007 with the song "Prava stvar" finishing in 3rd place as the jury's favorite while only coming 8th in the public vote. They also participated at Beovizija 2008, but failed to qualify for the final.
The band has released its fourth studio album named Spusti me na zemlju in spring of 2009. introducing new drummer, Dario Janošević.
In February 2011, Ivana Peters announced that the band will start working on their fifth studio album during the spring of 2011. The band introduced their new bass guitarist, Vladimir Čukić, at a club performance on November 23, 2013.
In 2014. the band announced a longer pause.
After the five year break, in the spring of 2019. the band announced the live performance on Belgrade Beer Fest. The concert was performed in front of 100 thousand people in the night between 16. and 17. August. The band held a concert to mark its 20th anniversary on November 29. at the BitefArt Cafe, Belgrade. Since tickets for the first show were sold out a month earlier, the second one was immediately scheduled and held two days later.
