On average, the wettest month of the year is July which corresponds with the annual peak in thunderstorm activity. During the winter months, episodes of extreme cold and wind can occur with wind chill values < 0 °F. The plant hardiness zone is 6b with an average annual extreme minimum air temperature of -1.4 °F. The average seasonal snowfall total is between 30 and 36 inches, and the average snowiest month is February which corresponds with the annual peak in nor'easter activity.
As of the 2010 census, the township was 92.0% White, 1.6% Black or African American, 0.1% Native American, 3.3% Asian, and 0.9% were two or more races. 2.4% of the population were of Hispanic or Latino ancestry. As of the census of 2000, there were 10,698 people, 3,895 households, and 3,034 families residing in the township. The population density was 727.6 people per square mile. There were 3,969 housing units at an average density of 270.0/sq mi. The racial makeup of the township was 96.26% White, 1.35% African American, 0.12% Native American, 1.14% Asian, 0.43% from other races, and 0.70% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.28% of the population. There were 3,895 households, out of which 38.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 68.8% were married couples living together, 7.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 22.1% were non-families. 18.4% of all households were made up of individuals, and 6.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.74 and the average family size was 3.14. In the township the population was spread out, with 27.4% under the age of 18, 4.6% from 18 to 24, 29.7% from 25 to 44, 26.5% from 45 to 64, and 11.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 95.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.3 males. The median income for a household in the township was $71,194, and the median income for a family was $77,896. Males had a median income of $57,188 versus $34,390 for females. The per capita income for the township was $28,923. About 1.4% of families and 1.9% of the population were below the poverty line, including 2.3% of those under age 18 and 1.7% of those age 65 or over.
