Nový Malín


Nový Malín is a village and municipality in Šumperk District in the Olomouc Region of the Czech Republic.
The municipality covers an area of, and has a population of 2,892.
Nový Malín lies approximately south-east of Šumperk, north of Olomouc, and east of Prague.
In 1947 the village was renamed, in the context of the removal of Germans from the German-originated Frankštát to Nový Malín in honor of Český Malín, a Czech village in Volhynia destroyed by Nazis just 4 years before with 374 Czechs being killed. Several survivors from Český Malín also settled in Nový Malín.
