Odd Steinar Albrigtsen is a Norwegian jazz guitarist who has been a member of the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra and the band Hijack.Career
Albrigtsen was educated at Kongsbakken vgs. in Tromsø, Piteå conservatory of music in Sweden, and Sund folkehøgskole. He holds a bachelor in jazz guitar and ensemble playing from the jazz program at Trondheim Musikkonservatorium. He played in the band Afrocadabra with Chillton James, Hanna Paulsberg, Julius Charo Shutu, Thomas Torstrup and Ernst-Wiggo Sandbakk. He has been part of the Albrigtsen/Formo/Østvang Trio and the Odd Steinar Albrigtsen Quartet, a quartet of musicians living in Oslo. Their music can be described as melodic jazz inspired by both American and Latin American music, and includes Kasper Værnes, Trygve Waldemar Fiske and Tore Sandbakken.
He has also been a member of the band Clockwork, formed in Trondheim in 2009. Albrigtsen released the album The Contest, mixed and mastered by Jonas Kullhammar of Moserobie Studios. This Norwegian/Swedish band cling to their roots in the American bebop tradition, yet with a focus on contemporary jazz.
Albrigtsen worked as a guitar instructo at the Trondheim Kommunale Musikkskole and later at the Norstrand Kulturskole in Oslo.Discography
