Ornithoprion

Ornithoprion is an extinct genus of eugeneodontid holocephalid closely related to Caseodus that existed in the Moscovian stage of the Carboniferous from 315.2 to 307 million years ago.. Various species had an elongated lower jaw. The discovery of Ornithoprion helped establish the fact that Helicoprion had its tooth whorl on the lower jaw.
