Otaslavice


Otaslavice is a village and municipality in Prostějov District in the Olomouc Region of the Czech Republic.
Otaslavice is about south of Prostějov, south-west of Olomouc, and east of Prague.
The municipality covers an area of, and has a population of 1,280.

Notable people

The Royal Air Force flying ace Josef František was born in Otaslavice. He trained with the Czechoslovak Air Force, fought in the Polish Air Force in 1939 and French Air Force in 1940. He then fought in the Battle of Britain in the RAF's famous No. 303 Polish Fighter Squadron, in which he shot down 17 German aircraft in September 1940.
