Outram Island


Outram Island is an island of the Andaman Islands. It belongs to the South Andaman administrative district, part of the Indian union territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
It is northeast from Port Blair.

[Etymology]

Outram is named after Lieutenant-general James Outram.

Geography

The island belongs to the Ritchie's Archipelago and is located west of North Passage Island, Rangat.

Administration

Politically, Outram Island is part of Port Blair Taluk.

Demographics

The island is uninhabited.

Tourism

Outram Island is thoroughly surrounded by silver, smooth sandy beaches. You can delight in just dozing, relaxing and basking in the sun on these beaches. If you are interested in fishing, you can take pleasure in wonderful fishing experience on this island along the edge of the reef. Surfing off this reef might be feasible during the North- Easterlies. The reason of doing so is that there is a considerable break to the west. The reef which is far off the southern point of Outram Island stretches out much more towards south. If scuba diving thrills and fascinates you, you will enjoy to the fullest on this island as it is a superb place for scuba diving.
