Pagar pengantin
Pagar Pengantin is a traditional dance of the Palembang tribe originating from South Sumatra, Indonesia. Pagar pengantin dance is usually performed at traditional wedding receptions in Palembang and South Sumatra in general. Pagar pengantin has a philosophical meaning which means the separation of the bride from her old family and asking permission to form a new family. The pagar pengantin dance also has a function as a welcoming dance to all invited guests present at the wedding reception. This dance is usually danced by five female dancers including the bride.
The uniqueness of this dance is the main dancer is the bride and is accompanied by four other dancers as a lady who surrounds the main dancer. When dancing, the bride will dance in a circle or tray of gold called talam by using a ladder or fake nails made of gold on the bride's eight fingers
