Pain Emission


Pain Emission were an American electro-industrial group based in San Diego, California, United States. The original incarnation consisted of vocalist Barry Dost, keyboardist Philipp Karger, and percussionist Thomas Patrick Smith, who were assisted by lyricists Shonn Bratlien and Johan Sherriffs in the studio. They released two albums on COP International, Fidget in 1993 and The War Within the following year. The band ceased activities shortly after they released the EP Nudge in 1994.

History

Pain Emission was formed in San Diego by vocalist Barry Dost, keyboardist Philipp Karger, and percussionist Thomas Patrick Smith. The band first contributed the songs "Bimbo" to The Cyberflesh Conspiracy and "QuickSlot" to Below San Onofre, both compilation albums released in 1992, before signing to COP International and releasing their debut Fidget on August 12, 1993. Pain Emission's second album titled The War Within was released on January 4, 1994 and the EP Nudge, featuring the new line-up with Shonn Bratlien and Johan Sherriffs accompanying Smith, followed on August 15 of the same year. The duo of Johan Sherriffs and Thomas Patrick Smith continued to write and record until 1997, releasing the limited cassette Pain Emission Recording Sessions and contributing to several various artists compilations.
