Pando Health


Pando Health is a clinical messaging platform created by Forward Clinical Ltd, based in London. It is named after the Pando.

History

It was founded in 2017 by Dr Barney Gilbert, Dr Lydia Yarlott, and Philip Mundy, a software engineer. The company raised £3.8 million in investment from the Australian investment firm Skip Capital in January 2020 with a view to international expansion in India, Canada and Australia.
It enables clinicians to rapidly and securely contact their colleagues. Data is stored on certified UK based secure servers, not on individual devices. it is free to use for all NHS & Local Authority staff and has been added to the NHS Apps Library. It allows staff to communicate within a closed network and to have access to a directory of people within it. Usage during the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom has increased very substantially. There was a 700% increase in daily downloads in March 2020, compared to February, with more than 75,000 messages exchanged via the network every day. Pictures can be sent securely. By May 2020 there were 45,000 users.
According to Dr Rhyddian Harris, a former clinician who works as a product manager "The telemedicine agenda has been accelerated by about 10 years, simply because it is not safe or practical to do much of the traditional medical model."
