Past Present (John Scofield album)


Past Present is an album by jazz guitarist John Scofield that was recorded in March 2015 and released on September 25, 2015. Scofield is joined by Joe Lovano, Larry Grenadier, and Bill Stewart on saxophone, bass, and drums, respectively. This album is a reunion for Scofield and Lovano, who recorded four previous quartet albums together between 1990 and 2003. Stewart played drums on two of the prior Scofield/Lovano collaborations.
The album earned Scofield a Grammy Award for Best Jazz Instrumental Album. The title track also earned Scofield a nomination for Best Improvised Jazz Solo.
