Patrick Grettnich

Patrick Grettnich is a retired Luxembourgian footballer and a former manager. He is the son of former Luxembourg national football team player John Grettnich.

Club career

Grettnich played for three different teams at Luxembourg's highest level and won some local fame when he scored a hattrick in the 2000/2001 Cup Final win against FC Wiltz 71.
Having played for FC Etzella Ettelbruck at the end of his career, he went on to manage fellow Nordstad team FC Erpeldange 72 in the Division of Honour. From 9 October 2013 until 21 August 2017 he was the manager of Strassen based football club UNA Strassen. With UNA Strassen he achieved a historical promotion to BGL Ligue in 2015. He managed to avoid relegation twice. After a few bad results, he was sacked from his coaching position.
From 6 November 2017 until end of 2018 he was the manager of RFCUL. He retired from his manager position in order "to focus on his professional career, although he stayed with the club, becoming General Manager." He was replaced by Frank Defays. Upon the return of Defays to FC Charleroi to become assistant manager, he once again became manager for the beginning on the 2019–20 season.
