Paul Broks


Paul Broks is an English neuropsychologist and science writer. Following an NHS career in clinical neuropsychology and academic posts at the universities of Sheffield, Birmingham and Plymouth he turned to freelance writing. His work includes theatre and film collaborations - Hugh Hudson and Ian Knox,. He is a regular contributor to Prospect and has written for The Times, Sunday Times, Daily Telegraph, The Guardian, and Granta. Radio broadcasts include - History of Ideas 2015 BBC Radio 4.
Broks trained as a clinical psychologist at Oxford University and went on to specialize in neuropsychology. He has pursued a career combining both clinical practice and basic research.
He is currently based in Bath.
Broks's first book Into the Silent Land: Travels in Neuropsychology was shortlisted for the Guardian First Book Award 2003 and is being adapted for the London stage.
