Paul Sloane (author)


Paul Sloane is an author and a corporate public speaker on innovation. He was educated at St Mary's Catholic Academy Blackpool and Trinity Hall, Cambridge. He worked for IBM before joining Ashton-Tate in 1984 as UK Marketing Director. He went on to become UK Managing Director and Acting Joint European Managing Director. In 1994 he became VP International for Mathsoft. In 2001 he was appointed CEO of Monactive Ltd, a software tools company. He is the author of over 20 books of lateral thinking puzzles published by Sterling Publishing. His business books are published by Kogan Page and Pearson plc. He has been a visiting lecturer at Cambridge University, Lancaster University, Henley Business School and the Mumbai Institute of Technology. He speaks on lateral thinking and the leadership of innovation. He has given two Tedx talks; 'Are You Open Minded?' at the University of Brighton, UK in 2016 and 'Les avantages d'être scandaleux.' at the University of La Salle, Beauvais, France in March 2020.. He is the nephew of Dom Ninian Sloane and brother of Nick Sloane. He is a keen chess player, with a peak FIDE rating of 2125, and represented Cambridge University. He is a member of the Catenian Association.
