Peach Drop

The Peach Drop is the annual New Year's Eve drop event held in Atlanta, Georgia. The drop's use of a peach symbolizes Georgia's identity as the "Peach State".
From 1989 through 2017, the event was held at Underground Atlanta. As Underground Atlanta was sold to a private developer, the Drop was moved to the Flatiron Building for 2018, with festivities at Woodruff Park. For 2019, the event returned to Underground Atlanta.
In November 2019, it was announced that the Drop would be placed on hiatus for 2020 in order to re-evaluate and expand the event. Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms stated that the sale of Underground Atlanta had complicated the event, and that the return for 2019 felt like an "afterthought" and lacked "the thought and consideration and resources we should give an event."
