Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations


The permanent representative of Russia to the United Nations is the leader of Russia's diplomatic mission to the United Nations.
Vasily Nebenzya is charged to represent Russia in the United Nations Security Council and the formal meetings of the United Nations General Assembly except the rare ones when the most senior officers of Russia is present. Like all the Russian Ambassadors he or she must be nominated by the President and confirmed by the Federation Council.
The position of the Russian Representative to the United Nations is the highest position among all the Russian ambassadors serving in various organizations and countries respectively. The ambassador serve as the pleasure of the President.
Vasily Nebenzya was nominated by the President Vladimir Putin for his position and was confirmed by the Federation Council. He is serving from July 27, 2017.
