Pete Ewing


Pete Ewing is an Australian singer/songwriter, musician, and filmmaker based in Los Angeles, California.

Early life

Pete Ewing is the 9th born son of Marie Lillian Ewing, a folk singer-songwriter, music teacher, and performing artist, and Peter Willoughby Ewing, a primary producer & sheep farmer. He has 4 brothers and 5 older sisters. Raised on the farm named "Tangmere" in South-West Victoria, Australia 5 km outside the township of Mortlake, Pete started singing, writing, and performing music from an early age with his mother at weddings, funerals and various community events. Farm life involved tending to the animals on the farm, raising lambs, shearing sheep amongst many tasks. Pete attended high school at Monivae College in Hamilton, Victoria, Australia. His studies included Drama, public speaking, and school choir. Pete also did ballet at Hamilton Dance Studio as well as playing Australian Rules Football for Penshurst FC, Kokoda FC & Terang-Mortlake FC. He pursued a Social Science degree, majoring in sociology at ACU in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

Music

In 2012, Pete Ewing and his brother William Ewing were cast on the Australian television soap opera, Neighbours in 2012 as the real life band 'Red Cotton'. Songs were performed by their actual band, 'William and the Tells'.
Neighbours had been looking for a band and had already auditioned seventy groups, "but none of them could act," except William and Pete Ewing who have grown up surrounded by the performing arts. They got the job. The band 'William and the Tells' wrote and performed all original material as "Red Cotton" during Season 1 of 2012.
What You Wanted' is the 2nd album release by Australian recording artist Pete Ewing, following the 2017 debut album, "None Of My Friends Are Happy".
In March 2015, while in the United States, Pete played solo shows at SXSW in Austin, Texas. On returning to Los Angeles he handed some demos into PAX AM in Hollywood. Producer & Ryan Adams guitarist, Mike Viola & Adams himself were so impressed with the material, they contacted Ewing, who had, by this time returned to Australia. Ewing was later invited to record an album at the famed "Ardent Studios", planned for September 2015 & by then, owned by Jody Stephens "at Barebones Studios in Los Angeles, CA with producer Mike Viola on keys, guitars & backing vocals & Co Producer Jason Boesel on drums, Ukulele, and backing vocals."
