Pierre-Olivier Joseph


Pierre-Olivier Joseph is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who currently plays as a prospect for the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League. He was drafted 23rd overall by the Arizona Coyotes in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.

Playing career

Joseph was drafted 78th overall in the 2015 QMJHL Entry Draft by the Charlottetown Islanders. He was named an alternate captain for the 2016–17 season. At the end of the season, he was named the Islanders' finalist for the Marcel Robert Trophy. The following season he was named Islanders' captain. During the 2018–19 season, Joseph was traded to the Drummondville Voltigeurs.
Joseph was drafted 23rd overall at the 2017 NHL Entry Draft by the Arizona Coyotes. On December 4, 2017, he signed a three-year NHL entry level contract with the Coyotes.
On June 29, 2019, Joseph was traded by the Coyotes, along with Alex Galchenyuk, to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for Phil Kessel, Dane Birks, and a fourth-round pick.

Personal life

Joseph was born in Laval, Quebec, but grew up in Chambly, Quebec. His brother, Mathieu, was drafted in the fourth round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning.
