Early life

Chareau was born in Bordeaux, France. He went to the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris by the time he was 17.

Work

Chareau designed the first house in France made of steel and glass, the Maison de Verre.
His designs were noted for their complexity.
Chareau was a member of Congrès International d'Architecture Moderne.
