Pierre DeCelles
Pierre De Celles is a Canadian animator based in Shanghai, China. He is best known for directing 1988's Pound Puppies and the Legend of Big Paw. He was also the Supervising Director for the Spiral Zone animated series. In the 1990s, he did Ren Hoek's screaming and cackling in "Big House Blues," the pilot of The Ren and Stimpy Show.
Life and Work
To quote his own words, Pierre De Celles "... was born early in the morning of December 14, 1951 in Montreal, Canada. My mother was superstitious and I do not want to be born on the 13th, thinking that it would bring me bad luck, so she kept up until one minute passed midnight. I never understood that since her brother was born 13 and he was the happiest man I knew. " He began to draw at a fairly young age and after a while, again using his own words: "... drawing became my joy." Uninspired by the rigid school system of his time, like many men and women of his generation, he left school to try to find his own way; Pierre De Celles growing up is a vivid example of the 1960 counterculture movement and aspirations - including the ideals of peace, free love, compassion and human community,
Pierre De Celles began to study alone, practice while working for a living: he was a newspaper courier, assistant milkman, worked in a wheeled factory, in the "Ogilvy" department store, and finally landed from work in an animation studio.
Pierre De Celles Animation career spread over 40 years and several countries and participated in projects with the production of Wang, Warner Brothers Studio, Marvel production, DIC Entertainment, Atlantic / Kushner-Locke Inc, Hanna-Barbera Productions Inc, among others.
He is a respected draftsman and painter, in 2004 the main exhibition of his Zhong Kui painting along with a picture of his artist friend Mr. Dong Zhi Yi, was organized by the Shang Hai International Cultural Communication Association and shown at the Shang Hai The opening ceremony was held by the Canadian Consulate General Robert B. Mackenzie.
Pierre De Celles's most sought after paintings and drawings include "Zhong Kui" series, "Little Red Riding Hood" series "Don Quixote" from the "UFO" Series, and "Buddy" series.
Currently, Pierre is the co-founder and director of Animation in his boutique studio, Crashdown Studio is located in Shanghai, China.
