Pinacotheca (Doctor Who)

Pinacotheca is a unproduced 1986 four-part Doctor Who adventure serial written by Christopher H Bidmead for the Sixth Doctor. It was proposed as the third segment of Trial of a Time-Lord.

Synopsis

The Doctor's next crime evidence reveals him on the planet Pinacotheca, a planet that holds a museum within key of times and places in the history of the universe.

Production

On October 29, 1985, Bidmead originally entitled the story "The Last Adventure", which soon became "Pinacotheca". After submitting the second draft on January 9, 1986, Bidmead heard nothing for a month, until February 2, Bidmead was shocked to learn that his story was rejected by producer John Nathan-Turner and script editor Eric Saward, because the story was considered unusable and boring. It was replaced by Terror of the Vervoids.
