found in the
mucus
secreted
by the
skin
of the
winter flounder
. It
exhibits
broad-spectrum
antimicrobial
activity
. Pleurocidin assumes an
amphipathic
alpha-helical
conformation
similar to other
linear
antimicrobial peptides
and may
play
a role in
innate
host
defence
.
