Poanas Municipality
Poanas is one of the 39 municipalities of Durango, in northwestern Mexico. The municipal seat lies at Villa Unión. The municipality covers an area of 1841 km².
As of 2010, the municipality had a total population of 24,918, up from 23,466 as of 2005.
The municipality had 61 localities, the largest of which were: Villa Unión, classified as urban, and Cieneguilla, San Atenógenes , La Joya, Orizaba, and Narciso Mendoza, classified as rural.
