Powell Lake
, it was named for
Dr

Israel Wood Powell

medical doctor
and educator who was a veteran of the
Cariboo Gold Rush
. Dr.
Powell
was
Commissioner
for
Indian Affairs
for
British Columbia
from 1873 to 1881.
