Prince Takamado Cup
The Prince Takamado Cup is an annual Japanese football competition run by the Japan Football Association for under–18 and under-15 sides. The prize is named after Norihito, Prince Takamado, a long time patron of football in Japan.
Under-18
Regulation
From 2003 to 2010, the championship was competed as a short-term tournament "Prince Takamado Cup All-Japan Youth Football Championship", where the Prince Leagues served as the qualification.Since 2011, the championship is competed as a year-round league tournament "Prince Takamado Cup U-18 Football League - Premier League" followed by a one-game championship match. The regulation is:
20 teams play in the Premier League. 20 teams are divided into 2 groups of 10 each by their geographical positions, called Premier League East and Premier League West.
East and west league winners are to play a championship match at a neutral venue.
The 2 bottom teams in each group are to relegate to Prince Leagues, replaced by four Prince League teams winning the promotion play-off.
Any under-18 teams in Japan are eligible for competing in the leagues.
