RAF Ossington


Royal Air Force Ossington or more simply RAF Ossington is a former Royal Air Force station located near the village of Ossington, Nottinghamshire, England.

History

During the Second World War a large RAF airfield was constructed on land close to the Ossington estate, known as RAF Ossington.
It opened on Sunday 18 January 1942 as the home for No. 14 Advanced Flying Unit RAF and transferred to No. 93 Group RAF Bomber Command in 1943. Finally in January 1945 it transferred to RAF Transport Command
It closed in August 1946. The hall formed part of the accommodation for the airfield.
