RDB (band)

RDB is a band initially formed by three British Sikh brothers in 1997, whose style blends western genres with traditional Punjabi beats and vocals. RDB was first setup by three British born brothers, Kuly, Manj and Surj. After the sad demise of the eldest
brother Kuly in 2012 and the departure of Manj in 2014 to start a solo career, RDB has continued
entertaining fans across the globe with the lead vocalist SurjRDB at its helm.

History

RDB's musical journey began with singing at the gurdwara: "We used to assist our father in performing in front of the community at our local gurdwara, playing the harmonium and the tabla. This gave us a great understanding of our musical creativity and we mixed this with our passion for technology and started experimenting with sounds." In 2003, they won "Best Club DJ Bhangra" at the UK Asian Music Awards. RDB have collaborated with acts such as Snoop Dogg, Ludacris and T-Pain. In April 2011, Kuldeep was diagnosed with a brain tumour and underwent radiotherapy and chemotherapy. He died on 22 May 2012 in Houston, Texas.

Split

After Kuldeep's death, Surj and Manjeet initially decided to continue with the brand, however the brothers parted ways a couple of years after, when Manjeet decided to branch out from RDB to pursue his own solo career. This action resulted Surj to rebuild and continue the brand and sound of RDB.
After some disputes between the brothers Manjeet decided to file a case in the Bombay High Court against Surj seeking an injunction against him from using the brand name RDB as he had no intention to. The application for an interim injunction was heard on but the honorable court declined to grant any ad-interim protection to Manjeet and dismissed the case.
The Brand remained with the lead singer of the group SurjRDB
