Rachowice

The village has a population of 699.
During the Second World War the village, then known as Buchenlust, was the site of a working party of British prisoners of war, under the administration of Stalag VIIIB/344 at Lamsdorf. The prisoners of war were engaged on forestry work. In January 1945 the prisoners of war were evacuated on foot, in extreme winter weather conditions, and had to march for four months in a generally westward direction, until liberated by allied forces.
