Rajendra Singh Babu


S. V. Rajendra Singh is a Kannada film maker and producer. He was born and brought up in Mysore. His father, the late Shankar Singh was one of the great producers in Kannada Film Industry and has produced many films under the banner Mahatma Pictures. Rajendra Singh Babu has made movies in various genres. He has written and directed love stories, War, suspense thrillers and comedy movies. Many of his films have been adapted from novels or short stories. He is not only famous in Karnataka, but also across all of India. Babu has won numerous awards for his films and has also directed movies in the Hindi and Telugu languages. His sister Vijayalakshmi Singh is the wife of actor Jai Jagadish.

Early life

Rajendra Singh Babu born in Mysore, Karnataka. His father, the late Shankar Singh, was a producer and director of Kannada films. His mother, Prathima Devi, was an actress in Kannada cinema. In an interview, Babu mentioned that his father wanted him to become a doctor, but his own passion for the camera propelled him to the film industry. Hailing from a family of movie makers, Babu was fascinated with films such as The Great escape, Guns of Navarone and Bridge on the river Kwai. He believed that:

Rajendra Singh Babu wrote the book titled "Nenanpina Muthina Hara" in memory of the great Kannada actor Vishnuvardhan. The book was a tribute to Vishnuvardhan, where Babu shares his numerous experiences with Vishnuvardhan. The book reveals the special bond Babu claims to have had with Vishnuvardhan. The book also reveals Babu's constant drive to work on meaningful cinema, wanting to make an impact. His endless dreams of making cinemas involving Vishnuvardhan and Dr. Rajkumar and how great those cinemas might have been and how it would have contributed to Kannada Cinema.
