Because it was the pier of the steamer, the stop for passenger ship, include a pier for loading cargos between small to the larger ships. At its glorious time there was direct tram route to the pier and around 11.00 p.m. or midnight during the Chinese New Year, it was also a pier that supports passengers to take the ferry to the Thonburi side to pay homage to Sampokong, a large Buddha statue of Wat Kanlayanamit as well.
