Ratnakar: A New Myth of Love is a 2019 Indian Assamese-language action drama and romantic film directed by Jatin Bora and produced by himself and Navanita Sharma under the banner of J.B. Production. The film features Jatin Bora and Barsha Rani Bishaya in lead roles with Nishita Goswami, Pabitra Bora, Chetana Das, Sanjeev Hazarika in supporting roles. The film also features Ashramika Saikia as child artist. Jatin Bora called it is the dream project for him.
Plot
The film shows the power of love between a father and a daughter and how it heals everything. The story revolves around the struggle of a single father; the adorable bond he shares with his daughter and how he overcomes every obstacle in their lives with courage and love. The movie starts with Jayanta, a responsible father who can go to any heights for his beloved daughter named Dubori. He lives in a remote village with her who studies at a local school. One day Dubori gets scolding in school from her teacher Daisy, in front of the whole classroom for scoring low marks in exam and for being an insincere student.Upset Dubori, goes to her father and cries deeply as showing him, her poor report. Jayanta, who feels helpless for his daughter, confronts Daisy out of rage and agony, explaining her the struggle he has faced in raising Dubori for being a single parent. Daisy sympathises his situation and decides to help Dubori in her studies. On course of time, the bond between Dubori and Daisy grows strong. On one such fine day, some street thugs teases both Dubori and Daisy in a park, and Jayanta, instead of confronting the street thugs, runs away from them with his daughter and Daisy. This leads Daisy think of Jayanta as a coward and helpless person. But on the same night, Jayanta, in a robbering outfit, silently goes to the same street goons and thrashes them one by one which is witnessed by Daisy. Being shocked to see him, she asks Jayanta about his actual identity to which he tells her his past. The story flashes back to Guwahati, when Jayanta used to be a gangster and worked for a powerful businessman for money. The businessman had a daughter, named Manashi who studied in abroad. When she returned to her hometown for good, she met Jayanta and eventually fell for him after seeing his kind nature and for running a social service to old age people, whom he considered as his only family. The two began to date, although Manashi had no idea that Jayanta works for her father and as a gangster. However, one day Manashi found him with a gun and was frightening an innocent man for land property. She shouted at him by calling him to be a cheater and went away in pain. Days later, Jayanta apologised to her and said that he only did all those for his old people in a harbour. Feeling for him, Manashi suggested Jayanta to earn money through a satisfactory job and she would support him. Jayanta changed himself into a good person, resigned for working as a gangster, finds an ordinary job for the sake of his love. Subsequently, Manashi married him, opposing her father and her cruel brother. Both started to live a happy life together and they found out that Manashi is pregnant. Every people in Jayanta's old-age harbour, celebrates the news. Unfortunately some months later, Manashi faced a car accident one day and was taken to a hospital. The doctor reveals that she was dead but the baby is saved. A girl child. But the baby's maternal grandfather wanted to take revenge on Jayanta by taking away the baby from him. Jayanta somehow escaped with the baby from there and settled in that remote village. Back to the present, Manashi's father, brother and his men are still desperately searching for the child. Eventually, one day, they indeed finds her and kidnap her. The rest of the story follows how Jayanta rescues and unites with his daughter. Manashi's father, realising his mistake, gives the freedom to live the happy life to Jayanta with his daughter. The movie concludes with Jayanta, Dubori and Daisy, going in Jayanta's bike; indicating how love heals at last...

The film has been released on 11 October 2019 across 59 theatre halls in Assam and 11 theatre halls in Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore and Hyderabad. The film got positive response from viewers. The tickets of the first three days has been booked of almost 80% halls. In the opening day it collected 42 lakh, which is the highest gross for any Assamese film as of 2019. In the second day, it collected 49.5 lakh. In the third and fourth day it collected and respectively, taking the total gross to. After one week of its opening day it collected a total, becoming the highest first week grosser in the Assamese film industry. Having collected on 21 October 2019 alone, the film had a total collection of till the 10th day of its release. After two weeks it collected a total, breaking all box office records of Assamese cinema. According to the film distributors, it has collected 9.23 crore net as of 14 November 2019. After six weeks it collected a total of 9.25 crore rupees.
