Ravindra Vijay


Ravindra Vijay is an Indian actor who works in theatre and films.

Career

Ravindra Vijay played a minor role in Irudhi Suttru. His first notable role in a feature film came with Odu Raja Odu in which he played a don alongside Nassar. Following which he was featured in prominent roles in several Tamil films including Kadaram Kondan and Dharala Prabhu. He made his Telugu feature film debut with Uma Maheswara Ugra Roopasya in which he portrayed a negative role.
He was a part of the Bangalore-based theatre group, Rafiki. Around 2015 he also started working with Perch, a theatre collective in Chennai led by Rajiv Krishnan with a focus on ensemble work. Ravindra has acted in several of the collective's plays like Ms Meena a collaboration with rafiki.  He had also starred in a play titled Under the Mangosteen Tree, which was inspired by Vaikom Muhammad Basheer's short stories. He also appeared in the plays How to Skin a Giraffe and Jujubee, a play for children.
He is part of the trio that performs Kira Kozhambu, a play based on writer Ki Rajanarayanan's folk tales. Vijay acted in the play Kira Kozhambu with Anand Sami and Kalieaswari Srinivasan in Coimbatore and reenacted the same play with Maya S. Krishnan reprising Srinivasan's part in Chennai. The play solely featured the three actors and a bench. The play was based on Ki. Rajanarayanan's collection of short stories titled Nattuppura Kadhai Kalanjiyam with Anand Sami reprising his role from the original play. A critic stated that "Actors Anand Sami, Maya S. Krishnan and Ravindra Vijay were in their elements with their seamless blend of art and entertainment".
