Ray Goolsby


Raymond Daniel Goolsby was a Major League Baseball player. Nicknamed "Ox", he played in three games for the Washington Senators in 1946. He had four at bats without a hit, with one walk and one sacrifice hit.
He was born in Florala, Alabama and moved to Central Florida in 1925 while still a child. He served in the Navy during World War II. After baseball he worked in the citrus industry, rising to manager. He died in Apopka, Florida. His wife was Lucy R. Goolsby whom he married in Apopka. He and his wife are buried in Highland Memory Gardens in Forest City.
