Rebellion Research


Rebellion Research is a think tank and investment management firm and Robo-advisor based in New York City established in 2006 by co-founders Alexander Fleiss, Jonathan Sturges, Jeremy Newton, and Dr. Spencer Greenberg. Its offices are currently located at 350 East 54th Street.
Fleiss, Newton, and Sturges met at a math class at Amherst College, and later partnered with Dr. Greenberg, a graduate of Columbia University.
The fund is known for utilizing machine learning to provide AI based asset management using Bayesian networks. Their algorithm, nicknamed "Star," provides a human trader with a list of recommendations in the morning, which the trader implements.
Rebellion Research was one of the first firms on Wall Street to use Artificial Intelligence in 2006.

Alexander Fleiss, CEO

In addition to running Rebellion Research as the current CEO, Alexander Fleiss, has given numerous university talks and lectures. He currently teaches at the in Roosevelt Island, New York, at the Fordham Business School and has taught an AI seminar at Amherst College since 2008.
Fleiss is also the Editor-In-Chief of Rebellion's daily research publication. Fleiss himself has authored over 500 academic articles and reports and has interviewed several prominent figures, such as Lawyer and Professor , Home Depot CEO, , American Astronaut, , Tech Entrepreneur, and CIA Director, .
In 2006, Fleiss was featured in Bloomberg Businessweek for his AI algorithms and was on the cover of the Wall Street Journal in July 2010 for his work with machine learning in finance and calling the Greek debt crisis.
