Redrum (Era Istrefi song)


"Redrum" is a song recorded by Kosovo Albanian singer Era Istrefi featuring American producer Felix Snow. It is entirely performed in English becoming simultaneously the singer's first single in a foreign language.
The official music video for the song was shot by the SixTwentySix and was uploaded on the 24 February 2017 onto YouTube in order to accompany the single's release. A red-hued clip, it portrays the singer performing the song in different sets filled with smoke, red costumes and diverse shots.

Composition

The song was composed in time and is performed in the key of E minor in common time with a tempo of 145 beats per minute. The accompanying music video for "Redrum" was premiered on the YouTube channel of Istrefi's label, Ultra Music, on the release date on 24 February 2017. The video was produced by Austin Barbera and directed by Millicent Hailes of the SixTwentySix Productions company.

Reception

"Redrum" received positive reviews from music critics upon its release. BigFM Germany saw the song as a club sensation despite the "dark message" and described it as a "calmer" track with a "lesser Balkan flair" than "BonBon", however, as of Kate Bein of the Billboard magazine, it takes her into "future bass territory". Christina Hernandez of Dancing Astronaut praised the song's "high-charged" melodies and described the vocals of Istrefi as "powerful".
