Archdeacon of Middlesex

post
he held until his 1856 consecration to the
episcopate
as
coadjutor bishop
of
Jamaica
. He
automatically
succeeded as
diocesan Bishop
of Jamaica upon
Aubrey
Spencer's
death
,

1872
.
