Rob Malone


Robbie "Rob" Malone is the bass player for English musician David Gray.

Biography

Malone hails from Donaghmede, Dublin, Ireland, and previously played bass for Hothouse Flowers, The Corrs, Jamie Lawson, Hinterland, Damien Dempsey, Mary Coughlan, Juliet Turner, The Pale, Gemma Hayes, Bronagh Gallagher and The Sofas to name but a few.
He is probably best known for his bass playing for Dublin prog rockers LiR who were touted as the next big thing in Ireland in the early 90s.
Before embarking on a career with Lir, Malone played acoustic guitar for the church youth choir in Donaghmede.
Malone has co-written a number of songs and co produced on recent David Gray albums which have reached the US Billboard top ten.
He recently recorded on “The Corrs” 2017 record “ Jupiter Calling” which was produced by the legendary T Bone Burnett.
