Robert Kolb


Robert Kolb is a professor emeritus of Systematic Theology at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri. His major contributions include an edition of the Book of Concord as well as an introductory book of Lutheran theology. Kolb is also the director of the Institute for Mission Studies in St. Louis. He spends much time teaching in various locations around the world including Estonia; India; Oberursel, Germany; and Cambridge, England.

Early Years and Education

Robert Kolb was born on June 17, 1941, in Fort Dodge, IA. He married Pauline J. Ansorge, August 14, 1965.
He attended Concordia Senior College, Fort Wayne, Indiana, from which he earned the B.A. in 1963. He graduated from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri with his Master of Divinity in 1967 and his Master of Sacred Theology in 1968. He attended the University of Wisconsin—Madison from which he obtained an M.A. in 1969 and a Ph.D., 1973. He is a Member of the International Congress for Luther Research and the Society for Reformation Research.
