Robert Schalkenbach Foundation


The Robert Schalkenbach Foundation is an American non-profit educational organization and publisher dedicated to the social and economic philosophy of Henry George.

History

It was founded in 1925 to promote public awareness of the social and economic philosophy of Henry George. It was the second Georgist organization founded, and the oldest still in existence.

Activities

The foundation publishes books and articles written by or about George or on such related topics as land value taxes and George's magnum opus Progress and Poverty. It acts as co-publisher for The American Journal of Economics and Sociology, and the Georgist Journal
It produced the documentary The End of Poverty? in 2008 which received praise for using "academics and public figures from all over the globe." Even so, the film was criticized for not accurately representing George's views.

Leadership

The organization's executive director is Josephine Faass. Past directors have included economists Mason Gaffney and Nicolaus Tideman.
